Dee is an artist with a love of colour and texture. Drawing is the basis for all her ideas which evolve through a process of fragmentation and reconstruction. Her workroom is packed with colourful materials from which she selects small pieces that are fused, patched, and layered to form a background on which to stitch. This style of working reflects her interest in collage. Recently painting has been used either as a background for stitch or as an individual work.
After art college, Dee worked as an artist in the audio visual industry. She ran an art studio and produced marketing films. Later a chance introduction to modern embroidery generated her interest in textiles. Dee gained a diploma in stitched textiles with distinction and is a member of The Society of Designer Craftsmen.
Dee was selected to be in the graduate gallery at The Knitting and Stitching show and now exhibits with Prism Textile Artists and the SDC
