Dee Kirk Thomas

I work intuitively, creating abstract acrylic paintings through an exploration of colour, texture and mark making.

The paintings often begin with sketches and observations rather than literal references. I enjoy allowing the work to evolve through layering, experimentation and the unexpected, creating surfaces with depth, movement and a sense of history.

My background in design and art textiles has shaped my sensitivity to colour, and composition. Painting gives me the freedom to work spontaneously and instinctively.

Following the successful inclusion of my work in the 2025 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, my painting practice is gaining wider recognition as I continue to develop a distinctive and personal body of work.
